How Bazaar!
Last weekend, WYZ had their first ever bazaar in JW and EXPO. Every CG got involved to set up their own stalls. It was tremendous, as you see creativity oozing everywhere, from the things they sell, to the deco of the stall itself.Obviously some stalls took this bazaar very seriously...
Anyway, we ourselves had a stall set up. Called, ehem, "Pretty Nails" with our nail painters, Esther Chew and Esther Lee, providing nail sticker, jewel gluing services. Of course they are pretty thus the stall name. Even got male customer for nails. Imagine that!I decided to give nail painting a go, had one of my thumbnails glossed black. As if someone hammered my nail. I was not alone, had my first guinea pig, penghuat as i tried nail painting on him. Obviously it turned out horrible, well, what can you do if his nails are ugly from the start. Haha. Joke.
We've got stalls selling those lightup tshirts, that light up according to music. Stalls that sell twisted balloons, Self-drawn notebooks by Huimin, Self-drawn shoes, Self-made accessories by Clara, vintage clothing from famous brands, Beeleng even brought her iSqueeze machine for foot massage at $6. Wasn't too bad at all. Got a hand massage from Bernice, which was really quite professionally done. Jasper wrapped things up by trying to auction off this giant jig-saw puzzle...
Next time we do auction lah...

Meow Meow
Beeleng, Shawn, Elyn, Joyce and myself are going to watch CATS the musical this Sunday @ the Esplanade. It's the first time I'm going to watch a real live award winning musical. For those of you who have not heard of CATS, its up there with Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, etc.
Cats has been performed around the world in numerous productions and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
Actually I was contemplating going for the Grasshoppers concert. (why are there so many groups named after animals?) But we decided to go for CATS instead. Grasshoppers can wait till later.
Anyway, I paid $212 for 2 pairs of tickets. I think it's going to be absolutely worth it!

Where is everybody?!
Wow, was in town with Joyce yesterday celebrating a special occasion.
We were just walking around Cineleisure and the Heeren and I cannot help but notice how empty it has become.
Has it always been so empty on a weekday night? I used to go to town on weekday nights pretty often when I was in my teens, and it used to be alot more human traffic than this.
I remember the default to be after school is Lido. Sad to say, not many people go there now because the seats and all are quite run down.
Some shops even close early, and hardly any shoppers around. The Thai express on the top floor was very empty.
Probably goes down to a few reasons:
1)recession, everybody wants to save during tough times
2)more malls, with more heartland malls being built, human traffic thins out
3)better tv shows, people are rushing home to watch the channel 8 "ping pong yuan"
4)exam period, students want to study
Come on Singapore, everybody go spend some money to boost economy!

V8 Cafe
We celebrated Aileen's birthday the other day at Bugis after service Junction's V8 cafe. It's located at the old Billy Bombers on the 3rd floor. Many of us were there. Jeremy, Dick, Felicia, Aileen (duh), Adam, Alicia and our new found chio friend, WanShin. A sweet young thing.2 usher VIPs were also present. Haha. The food was not too bad, and the price was quite cheap. Ordered a fish and chips for $8.80 and it even came with soup. The staff service was friendly too!
Happy, ehem, 18th Birthday Aileen!!!
After that we went to explore the new shopping mall opposite Bugis Junction. I was huge but many shops were not open yet. I have to say, there are more and more new malls sprouting up.

Home Alone
My family flew to Taiwan for a short holiday this week.
I'll be kind of home alone with my granny. Good oppurtunity to spend quality time with her. She's one of those kind old grandma's who greets you when you go to work in the morning.
Because she'll be home alone, she complains of boredom. So I taught her how to play her favorite "Huang Zhu Ge Ge" VCD. She learnt very quickly. "Eh, poh, ni yao an ze ge TRIANGLE (play button) de an niu"
Somehow her brain can recall things that happened many many years ago. She would be able to tell me how I were when I was a baby in exactly the same sequence every time.
She's healthy enough to cook, iron, watch tv, mop the floor. If I would to volunteer to help, she would chase me away. I have to INSIST in order to eventually pry that mop from her fingers. She's a real fighter, she doesn't give in easily.
Because I'm working the whole day, I try to rush home every night to check she's okay.
And to pry that mop away from her fingers.

Back to the old school
Went back to my old school AJC during their 25th family day on Sunday. Basically I wouldn't have known it was family day if it weren't for Jane.
Anyway, it's been 10 years since I was in AJC. How time flies. Almost all the teachers who taught me were gone. (as in they went to teach in other places)
As I walked pass the familiar hideouts where we used to skip lectures, catch a snooze, or play carum, memories started to flood in. Ahhh... those carefree days...
I can remember the old bag shelf in the canteen for students to put their bags, how birds would die in the canteen when they kamikazed into the ceiling fans, how the councillors would do umbrella duty during rainy days, how there would always be AJ ice at the old ang mo kio market.
I even remembered during valentines day, the council bought so many flowers to sell that the whole council room smelt like plant.
Sometimes you miss those old days... haha... Nostalgic~!

Home Sweet Home
Well, it finally happened. After months of balloting, searching hdb for new flats, Me and Joyce went down to Toa Payoh's HDB Hub to purchase our new home together.
The home location? Its at the far far north east. In the forgotten lands Singapore. Punggol! (It almost sounds like another country) Anyway, I was pretty excited, because it is said Punggol will be developed into a coastal recreation district. I envision it to be a beautiful place.Thing is, it will only be completed in 2013. So meanwhile, will be renting a place at Simei. =>
