Tennis vs Badminton

After a long lull, I finally went back to play badminton with my colleagues. In the past, we met up every friday for a 2 hr game of badminton. Some of them are quite pro. Enjoyable fridays those were.

Played today, and every person that teamed with me lost! Haha... Anyways, haven't felt my forearm muscles in a long time. Right shoulder also ached.

Just some thoughts.

Along my way home, I passed by Yio Chu Kang Sports hall. As I was walking pass the tennis courts, I realised one thing. The people who played tennis were different from the people playing badminton. Generally speaking.

The people on the badminton courts were mainly IT professionals, like me, uncles and aunties , indian expatriates, occasionally a few gawky kids having some badminton lessons. They came in their whatever attire, shorts, polo shirts, singlets.

The people on the tennis courts were young, hip, and usually physically toned and well built. They sported trendy hairstyles. They come in their nike headbands and tennis attire. All dressed up and all.

Talk about the biggest tennis stars, Roger Federer, Raphael Nadal, Maria Sharapova.

Talk about the biggest badminton stars, hmmmmmm.

Even at home, my sister (who is cooler) has tennis lessons every weekend. I, on the other hand, badminton.

The in thing now is, tennis lessons. Ever heard of your friend saying, "eh, I'm going for my badminton lessons." Never.

But at the end of the day, I still like badminton more than tennis. People can play badminton till they're 40. Don't think you can play tennis properly at 40.

Maybe I'll wear a headband next friday. =>

There's nothing Junior about Carls' Junior

It's been sometime since I last blogged. Once again, I apologize to all my fans out there.
You know something about Carl's Junior? There's nothing junior about it. I love their portions cause their huge, and their burgers taste good, especially my favourite portebello mushroom burger.
My CG, W416, went to Carl's Junior at the Marina Square for some food. I decided to try something new, a Double Bacon Western Cheeese Burger. See Peng? So excited.Huge burger with double juicy beef batties, topped with slices of crispy bacon, with yummy melted cheese, with fresh crunchy onion rings. Yummy.
Gym anyone?

Wala Wala~!

To celebrate WeiChuan's birthday, W416 went to Holland Village. Some of them came after the Edge meeting so we were a little late.

Weichuan, Jeremy, Eehorng, Gavin, Dick, Felicia, Aileen were there. WeeKee, Victor and Yixing joined us too. WeiChuan, your "mian zi" very big leh.

Had our supper at Cystal Jade which to my surprise, closes at 4am.

After which, we went to Wala Wala for a few drinks and also to listen to the live band, which was good.

Bumped into Glenn Ong and Jamie Yeo sitting next to our table. Felicia took some sneaky pictures of them, using Weichuan as a decoy. Poor weichuan. Haha.

I have no pictures to show you, all of them are with jeremy.

I'm Yours

Currently the most overplayed song. Jason Mraz's I'm Yours. Heard it in Shot To Fame Vocals, Heard it in Shot to Fame Band (twice), Heard it on the radio, Heard it playing along some open cafe.

But it's really a nice song.

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to get you but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
and now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love (love)
Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
And It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

Scooch on closer dear
And i will nibble your ear

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I'm be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
this is our fate, I'm yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
Please don't, please don't, please don't
There's no need to complicate
Cause our time is short
This is out fate, I'm yours

Crawling Cockroach

Oops, I did it again.

As I was taking off my shoes, I saw the evil thing zig-zagging through my floor into the kitchen. I thought to myself, "Not again!"

Adrenaline pumped through my body. I was ready for action.

I clenched my fist and gave my famous war cry, "Dieeeeeeeeeeeee!" (nah, I didn't)

Instead, I grabbed my favorite newspaper and followed the evil thing into the kitchen.

It was fast. So fast, I nearly lost it. It hid at a corner in the shadow of my refrigerator thinking that he lost me.

SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH! This time, I whacked him like 5 times. Until he was really crushed. Stains of cockroach juice appeared on my newspaper.

Just as I was going to pick it up to dispose it, my grandmother said, "BU YAO LAH, RANG WO LAI!"

And I was like, "BU BI LAH, WO KER YI."

And she was like, "WO GEN NI SHUO BU YONG LAH, ANG ZANG!"

And I was like, "okay lor."

Of course, my grandmother is a legendary cockroach killer. She once used her bare palm to pin cockroaches to the floor, before twisting her palm for the killer blow. I still have a long way to go.
I love my granny. =>

Flying Cockroach

Nowadays, I try my best to blog as often as I can. Some of these blogs might not be really relevant.

Just last night, as I was washing my face in the bathroom, I caught a black dot flying behind me. It was a black dot because I wasn't wearing my glasses. Anyway, when I put on my glasses, I couldn't find that dot anywhere, thinking that I imagined it, I left the bathroom.

Just as I was leaving, I heard a buzzing sound, followed by a thud. I saw the evil thing on the floor upside down with legs wriggling and all. Spinning in rounds like a swimmer doing a backstroke. Acting cute, hoping that it will be spared.

I would have spared it if it was that cockroach in Wall-E. That was cute. This was the other side of the cute spectrum.

I was first surprised then angry. Thoughts came into my mind. "Kill! Kill!" I needed a murder weapon. I rushed downstairs and grabbed a newspaper, rolled it up. Since it wasn't moving, I took my time to aim my smash. I imagined that it was a badminton racquet. I started whacking it. Bishy Bashy style.

Again and again, the newspaper came upon the little crushed body like a ton of bricks.

They say that only pregmant cockroaches fly, so I must have killed future little cockroaches. Took a hose and flushed it down the water drainage.

Can't believing I'm fixing bugs at work and at home. What a day.
